J&K Gets Major Medical Education Boost for Academic Year 2025-26, 379 MBBS & 118 PG seats added so far
Total of 379 new MBBS seats and 1 new medical college have been approved for J&K for the 2025-26 session as of this morning.
118 PG(MD/MS) seats also have been added for this academic year so far.
The data was released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Friday, December 5, 2025.
This allocation is part of a larger nationwide expansion where the Centre has approved 44 new medical colleges and 11,732 additional MBBS seats across India for the 2025-26 session.
This move aims to improve the doctor-patient ratio in the region and provide more opportunities for local aspirants in both undergraduate (NEET UG) and postgraduate (NEET PG) courses.
