MGM Medical College Kishanganj: 2nd-Year MBBS Student Found Dead in Hostel

The medical community is grieving yet another tragic loss within a college campus. A second-year MBBS student, Anushka jain at MGM Medical College in Kishanganj, Bihar, was found dead in her hostel room under highly suspicious circumstances, prompting a high-level police investigation.

The Tragic Discovery

According to the investigation details reported on April 25, the incident unfolded on Friday, April 24, 2026. The student, whose father is reportedly a doctor based in Ara, Bihar, was discovered hanging from the ceiling in her assigned hostel room.

Upon being alerted by the college authorities, the local police immediately rushed to the campus. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manglesh Kumar confirmed that the body was found under “suspicious circumstances” and was immediately taken into custody and transferred to Kishanganj Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

High-Level Probe Initiated

Given the gravity of the situation and the rising national concern over medical student deaths, the District Magistrate Vishal Raj and Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar personally visited the campus crime scene. The authorities have officially sealed the student’s hostel room for forensic evaluation.

A specialized Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has already examined the room to collect crucial evidence and reconstruct the sequence of events. The police have stated that while they are awaiting the final post-mortem report to officially determine the exact cause of death, they are actively investigating all potential angles, including foul play.

Investigators are currently questioning the deceased student’s classmates, hostel mates, and the college administration to understand the circumstances that led to this tragedy.
