MLNMC Prayagraj: MS Surgery Resident Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstance
In a shocking and deeply tragic incident, a 30-year-old postgraduate medical student from Motilal Nehru Medical College (MLNMC), Prayagraj, died under highly suspicious circumstances late Sunday night.
Dr. Aditya, a second-year MS resident in the Department of Surgery at the affiliated Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital, was found unconscious in the washroom of a colleague’s flat and later passed away during emergency treatment.
The Timeline of the Incident
According to local police and news reports, Dr. Aditya visited a female doctor friend’s flat on Lowther Road in the Georgetown area on Sunday night after completing his duty. According to statements given to the police, he went into the washroom but did not return for an extended period. When he failed to respond to repeated calls, the concerned doctor alerted other colleagues for help.
Upon breaking down the washroom door, Dr. Aditya was found completely unconscious. He was immediately rushed to the SRN Hospital ICU. Despite aggressive CPR efforts, during which he reportedly briefly regained consciousness, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he tragically passed away roughly 90 minutes later.
Ongoing Investigation and Inconclusive Autopsy
Authorities noted a crucial detail at the scene: Dr. Aditya had an IV cannula (vigo) inserted in his hand. Reports suggest this was due to him suffering from a fever the previous day, though the exact medications or fluids administered remain part of the investigation.
As of Monday, the initial post-mortem report was declared inconclusive regarding the exact cause of death. The Georgetown police have officially preserved his heart and viscera for advanced forensic and toxicological lab testing. Authorities have stated that while no formal written complaint has been filed by his family yet, a thorough investigation is actively underway to piece together the exact sequence of events.
