MP Junior Doctors Stipend Hike 2026: Government Releases New Pay Structure

In a major victory for the medical fraternity across Madhya Pradesh, the state government has officially issued orders to increase the monthly stipend for junior doctors, senior residents, and medical interns.

This move comes just days after 8,000 doctors launched a statewide strike, which paralyzed outpatient services before being temporarily suspended following assurances from Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla.

The New Stipend Structure

Honoring its 2021 promise, the state government has implemented the much-delayed Consumer Price Index (CPI) based revision (calculated at 2.94%). Crucially, this hike will be implemented retrospectively from April 1, 2025, meaning doctors will finally receive their long-pending arrears.

The new monthly stipend structure across government medical colleges is as follows:

• Medical Interns: Increased from ₹13,928 to ₹14,337

• PG 1st Year: Increased from ₹75,444 to ₹77,662

• PG 2nd Year: Increased from ₹77,764 to ₹80,050

• PG 3rd Year: Increased from ₹80,086 to ₹82,441

• Super Speciality (All 3 Years): Fixed at ₹82,441

• Senior Residents (SR): Increased from ₹88,210 to ₹90,803

• Junior Residents (Non-Academic JR): Fixed at ₹63,324

With this official order, the threat of the strike resuming on March 16 has effectively ended. The medical fraternity has welcomed the decision, bringing a massive sigh of relief to thousands of patients who rely on government healthcare services across the state.
