KGMU ‘Love Jihad’ Allegation: Resident Doctor Attempts Suicide Over Forced Religious Conversion

A shocking incident has emerged from King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow, where a female resident doctor attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance on Thursday. The extreme step was allegedly taken after her classmate and partner, a fellow resident doctor, refused to marry her because she declined his demand to convert to Islam. The victim is currently receiving treatment in critical condition at the Trauma Center.

The victim’s father has lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Minister and the State Women’s Commission, accusing the male resident of trapping his daughter in a “love trap” and sexually exploiting her under the pretext of marriage. The complaint further alleges that the accused had already married another Hindu girl in February after converting her religion and had concealed this fact. When the victim discovered this and tried to end the relationship, the accused reportedly began harassing her.

While the specific names of the victim and the accused are not mentioned, KGMU spokesperson Prof. K.K. Singh is quoted confirming the university’s awareness of the issue. He stated that the matter is extremely serious and assured that if the allegations are proven true following an investigation, strict action will be taken against the accused resident.
