NMC Approves 171 Additional PG Medical Seats for 2025-26: Check State-Wise List & Specialties

In a significant relief for NEET PG aspirants amidst the ongoing counseling delays, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has officially approved 171 additional postgraduate medical seats for the 2025-26 academic session. The decision came after the First Appeal Committee reviewed and accepted appeals from various medical colleges that had previously been denied permission by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB).

These newly sanctioned seats are spread across key clinical and non-clinical specialties, including General Medicine (30 seats), Anaesthesiology (24), Paediatrics (17), and General Surgery (17). The beneficiary institutes are located in multiple states such as Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. This addition is expected to slightly lower the cut-offs in the upcoming counseling rounds, offering a lifeline to candidates on the borderline of their preferred branches.
