Fake Ragging Complaint at Kurnool Medical College: Police Reveal Senior Posed as First-Year MBBS Student
What initially appeared to be a severe case of campus harassment at Kurnool Medical College (KMC) in Andhra Pradesh has taken a bizarre turn. A ragging complaint filed directly with the National Medical Commission (NMC) by a purported first-year MBBS student has now been declared “fake” by the college administration following a police inquiry.
The Initial NMC Complaint
The controversy began when an email was sent to the college principal on April 16, and subsequently to the NMC’s online grievance portal, under the name of a first-year student. The complaint alleged that a third-year senior had been harassing the junior, forcing him to perform humiliating acts such as “wall-sitting,” and continuing the abuse even when the junior resisted.
The Investigation’s Findings
Acting on the NMC complaint, the KMC administration quickly convened an emergency meeting of the Anti-Ragging Committee under Principal Dr. Lakshmi Chitti Narasamma and informed the Kurnool III town police.

However, during the internal probe and police investigation, a massive twist was revealed. Principal Dr. Narasamma confirmed to the press that the first-year student’s name was actually misused. The investigation allegedly uncovered that a senior student had fraudulently used the junior’s identity and email to file the fake NMC complaint due to personal disputes and differences with his fellow batchmates.
The accused senior who orchestrated the fake email has reportedly been sent home from the hostel pending further disciplinary action, while the college assures that no actual physical ragging of the junior took place in this specific instance.
