Intern Brutally Beaten by Warden and security guards at Dr. KNS Medical College, Barabanki

A shocking incident of campus violence has sparked outrage across the medical fraternity after videos surfaced showing an intern doctor being brutalized by staff at the Dr. K.N.S. Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences (associated with Mayo Institute, Barabanki).

The altercation, which reportedly took place on the morning of January 23, 2026, allegedly began as a dispute over basic amenities when an intern attempted to use hostel facilities to bathe due to a water shortage in their own block. Witnesses report that the situation escalated rapidly when the Chief Warden and security guards allegedly attacked the intern (batch 2020-21) with sticks and rods.

Distressing footage of the assault has since gone viral across social media platforms, triggering intense debate and mobilization on major medical community pages, including @just.medico.things, where students are uniting to demand accountability.

The violence has drawn sharp condemnation from national bodies like FAIMA, who have labeled it a “serious failure of institutional governance” and are demanding immediate police action against the accused employees.

This incident adds to a troubling rise in violence against resident doctors in Uttar Pradesh, following similar recent clashes at other private and government institutes. The local medical community is currently demanding an FIR and strict legal action, asserting a “zero tolerance” policy for violence against doctors – especially when perpetrated by the very administration meant to protect them.
