NEET PG 2026 Registration Begins: Check NBEMS Guidelines, Dates, and Direct Link

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially opened the online registration window for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2026. Eligible medical graduates can now submit their application forms through the official portal (natboard.edu.in). With the highly anticipated examination scheduled for August 30, 2026, in a computer-based mode, the clock has officially started ticking for aspirants nationwide.

Crucial Dates and Deadlines

The application window opened on July 1, 2026, at 5:00 PM, and will strictly close on July 21, 2026, at 11:55 PM. Candidates are strongly advised by the board to carefully read the Information Bulletin before filling out the application form and to avoid waiting until the last date to complete the registration process to prevent server overloads.

No ‘First-Come, First-Served’ for Test Centers

In a significant departure from previous years, NBEMS has explicitly stated that test city allotment will not be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Issuing a verified statement in their advisory to clear up widespread confusion, the board clarified: “Submitting the application early will not increase the chances of getting a preferred test city or centre”.  

Instead, applicants must choose three preferred test states while filling out the application form. The first preferred test state must mandatorily match the correspondence state provided in the application, while the remaining two choices must be neighboring states. NBEMS reserves the right to assign any test city across India due to logistical or administrative reasons.  

No Corrections Allowed for Key Fields

The board has warned aspirants that the correspondence address and the preferred test states cannot be changed once the application form is submitted. This restriction remains strictly in place even during the application edit window. Candidates must provide a valid correspondence address along with acceptable, official address proof.  

Strict Aadhaar Biometrics and Anti-Fraud Measures

Security measures have been drastically increased this year. For the first time, Aadhaar-based authentication and verification will be used during the NEET-PG exam process. The official NBEMS advisory explicitly warns candidates not to apply mehendi (henna), ink, paint, or any other substance on their fingers or palms, as these may interfere with biometric verification at the test centers. Furthermore, applications containing edited, morphed, or non-compliant photographs may be rejected entirely, and admit cards will not be issued.

The opening of the registration window is always a high-anxiety moment for aspirants, but NBEMS has thrown in some major curveballs this year. The removal of the first-come-first-serve center allocation might seem frustrating initially, but it prevents the sheer panic and website crashes we see every single year. However, the most critical takeaway is the absolute zero-tolerance policy for application edits regarding addresses and center choices. You cannot afford a single typo.
