Kozhikode Scooter Crash: Three Medical Students Die After Hitting Electric Pole in Koyilandy
The medical fraternity in Kerala has been plunged into deep mourning following a devastating road accident early Wednesday morning that claimed the lives of three young MBBS students from Malabar Medical College, Kozhikode.
Details of the Tragic Crash
According to reports by PTI and The Hindu, the accident occurred around 2:30 AM at Kuruvangad, near Koyilandy. The three medical students were traveling together on a single electric scooter when the vehicle reportedly lost control. The scooter violently crashed into a roadside electric post before overturning into an adjacent drainage canal.
Passing truck drivers and other motorists who witnessed the immediate aftermath rushed to carry out rescue operations. As reported by local police to PTI, the severely injured students were rushed to a nearby taluk hospital and later to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, but tragically, doctors were unable to save them. All three were declared dead due to the severity of the crash.

The Victims
The deceased students, who were pursuing their MBBS at Malabar Medical College, have been officially identified as:
• Nandakishore (22), a native of Karunagappally, Kollam.
• Abhiyan Rahman (19), a native of Kayamkulam.
• Abhinav Suresh (19), a native of Alanellur, Palakkad.
Koyilandy police have registered a case for death due to a road accident. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and recording witness statements to determine exactly what caused the electric scooter to lose control. The devastating news has left classmates, faculty, and the local Kozhikode community deeply shaken as families arrive to receive the mortal remains.
