NEET PG 2026 Application Form: Expected Release Date and Eligibility Criteria
With the NEET PG 2026 application forms expected to drop soon, most probably in last week of April 2026. many medical graduates, especially those who faced academic delays or completed their degrees abroad, are anxious about whether they will qualify to sit for the August 30 exam.
Based on the established guidelines by the National Medical Commission (NMC), here is the strict eligibility checklist every aspirant must meet to successfully register for NEET PG 2026.
1. The Core Qualifications (For Indian Medical Graduates)
To be eligible to sit for the exam, Indian medical graduates must satisfy three absolute criteria:
• Degree: You must possess a recognized MBBS degree or a Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized under the provisions of the NMC Act, 2019.
• Registration: You must possess a Permanent or Provisional registration certificate of your MBBS qualification issued either by the NMC (or the erstwhile MCI) or a State Medical Council (SMC). You will need to upload documentary proof of this during the application process.
• The Internship Cut-Off: You must have completed your one-year Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI), or be officially scheduled to complete it on or before the cut-off date specified in the 2026 Information Bulletin (expected to fall between June 30 and August 15, 2026). Candidates completing their internship even one day after the cut-off date are strictly ineligible.

2. Criteria for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs)
If you are an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) who obtained your primary medical qualification from a college outside India, you have a slightly different pathway:
• FMGE Clearance: You must have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) conducted by the NBEMS.
• Registration & Internship: Similar to Indian graduates, you must be officially registered with the NMC or an SMC, and you must complete your CRMI on or before the NBEMS-mandated 2026 cut-off date.
3. Criteria for Foreign Nationals
For foreign nationals desiring to pursue a PG medical course in India, the rules are specifically tailored:
• No Mandatory Prior NMC Registration: Foreign nationals can write the NEET PG without prior NMC registration. However, upon clearing the exam and securing a seat, the NMC will grant a temporary registration exclusively for the duration of the PG course, limited only to the specific medical college they are admitted to.
• Home Country Recognition: The candidate must be duly registered with the appropriate medical regulatory authority in their home country, and their basic medical qualification must be recognized there.
• Security Clearance: Foreign nationals are required to obtain prior security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, before even applying for the NEET PG exam.
Important Warning for Candidates
NBEMS explicitly warns that eligibility is purely provisional. If a candidate is found ineligible at any stage of the exam or counseling process (such as a college losing its NMC recognition before the cut-off date, or the candidate submitting fake internship certificates), their candidature will be immediately cancelled without prior notice.
