The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially released a comprehensive advisory dated July 1, 2026, for all candidates intending to apply for the NEET-PG 2026 examination. Overhaul of Test City Allocation Protocols

•In a major shift to prevent application rushing, NBEMS has clarified the center allocation process:

•Test city allocation for NEET-PG 2026 will not be undertaken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

•Submitting the application form early does not confer any preferential right for the allotment of any particular test state, test city, or test centre.

•Candidates are required to select three preferred test states.

•The first preferred test state shall mandatorily be the correspondence state furnished in the application form.

•The remaining two preferred test states must be selected from the neighboring states.

While every effort will be made to allot a test city or centre in accordance with candidate preferences, NBEMS reserves the right to allot a test city or centre anywhere in India due to administrative, security, logistical, technical, or other unavoidable circumstances.

Mandatory Aadhaar Biometrics and Security Measures

•Security at test centers is being significantly upgraded to prevent impersonation and malpractice.

•NBEMS is introducing Aadhaar-based authentication and verification measures for NEET-PG 2026.

•Candidates are advised to carefully furnish their Aadhaar number and ensure that their Aadhaar is unlocked prior to reporting at the test centre.

•Candidates are advised not to apply henna, colour, ink, paint, or any other substance on their fingers, hands, or palms.

•Applying these substances may interfere with biometric verification and authentication processes and cause inconvenience.

•In cases where Aadhaar authentication is unsuccessful, alternate identity verification measures, including IRIS-based authentication, may be undertaken by NBEMS.

•Candidates should report to the test centre well before the prescribed reporting time to facilitate smooth completion of these security procedures.

•Applicants are advised to plan for the entire day of examination and should avoid making inflexible onward travel commitments on the examination day, as processes may take additional time.

Application Edits and Valid Address Proofs

Accuracy during the initial application phase is critical, as NBEMS has restricted modifications.

•The correspondence address and test state preferences shall not be editable after submission of the application form, including during the edit window.

•Candidates must upload their latest photograph, which must not be older than three months.

•NBEMS does not edit, modify, or alter information furnished by candidates under any circumstances.

•Details such as Category, PwBD Status, and Date of Birth should be entered with utmost care, as they may be pre-populated in the counselling registration form and requests for changes may not be entertained.

•A valid correspondence address must be backed by acceptable proof as outlined in Annexure-A. Accepted documents include:

Government photo ID / address proof: Aadhaar Card with address, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, Ration Card, or Domicile Certificate issued by a competent state authority.

Medical-profession documents: NMC/SMC Registration Certificate, MBBS Degree, Internship Completion Certificate, Appointment Order, or Hospital/Institution Employee ID Card.

Supporting residence documents: Recent utility bills from the last three months, a registered rent agreement, a bank passbook, or a hostel/PG accommodation allotment letter from the institution or warden.

Anti-Fraud and Communication Guidelines

•Candidates are advised not to share their NEET-PG 2026 application details, sequence number, password, or Aadhaar details with any unauthorized person.

•Unscrupulous elements or touts may misuse such information to mislead candidates by making false promises relating to marks enhancement or admission.

•Applicants must ensure their registered Email ID and Mobile Number remain active, accessible, and under their exclusive control throughout the examination and counselling process.

•Candidates should regularly check their registered email ID, including spam or junk folders, and ensure their mailbox storage capacity is not full so that official emails are not blocked.

•Candidates are advised not to rely upon rumours, unverified information, or communications received through unofficial sources, including social media platforms.

All official information, notices, and updates will be made available exclusively through the official NBEMS website (https://natboard.edu.in), registered email communications, and the official NBEMS WhatsApp Channel.

The latest NBEMS advisory introduces a much-needed layer of discipline to the NEET-PG application process, particularly with the new Aadhaar biometric protocols. The strict “no henna/ink” rule is a small detail that could save thousands of candidates from test-day panic and verification failures. However, the most critical takeaway for aspirants is the permanent locking of the correspondence address and test state preferences. With zero edit window allowed for these fields and the mandatory matching of the first preference with the correspondence state, candidates must meticulously verify their documents before hitting submit. In an already high-stress environment, proactive compliance with these bureaucratic steps is your first real test.
