ESIC Faridabad Strike: Resident Doctors Suspend OPDs Over Admin’s “Abusive Behavior”

Resident doctors at ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Faridabad, have launched an indefinite strike, paralyzing routine medical services since Monday. The protest was triggered by an alleged incident of verbal abuse and unprofessional conduct by a senior administrative official (Deputy Medical Commissioner) towards a resident doctor.

The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) has termed the administration’s behavior as “toxic” and cited a pattern of harassment that compromises their dignity and mental well-being.

The strike has severely impacted healthcare delivery, with OPD services and elective surgeries largely suspended, leaving hundreds of patients stranded. While emergency services are reportedly functioning, the RDA has refused to call off the agitation until a written apology is issued and strict disciplinary action is taken against the official involved.

The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) has extended its support, threatening to escalate the issue nationally if the grievances are not addressed immediately.
