Vijayawada GGH Mystery: Final Year PG Doctor Dies After Dinner, Police Probe “Suspicious Death”
In a shocking incident at Government General Hospital (GGH), Vijayawada, a 26-year-old final-year postgraduate student, Dr. B. Deepika (MD Anaesthesia), passed away under mysterious circumstances in the early hours of Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Dr. Deepika, a native of Anantapur, was reportedly on duty until 8:00 PM on Wednesday. Later that night, she complained of severe stomach pain and vomiting after consuming “egg fried rice” for dinner with a junior colleague.
According to police reports, around 1:00 AM, she asked a junior doctor to administer an injection for pain relief. Shortly after, she was found unconscious on a table in the operation theatre complex. Despite being rushed to the ICU and administered CPR, she could not be revived and was declared dead around 6:00 AM on Thursday. The sudden collapse of a healthy young doctor has raised serious questions, with hospital authorities initially suspecting severe food poisoning or an adverse drug reaction.
