Bhopal MBBS Student Death: Acid Bottle Found, Roommates Cite Study Pressure

In a distressing incident reported this morning, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, a 20-year-old first-year MBBS student named Roshni was found dead in her private hostel in the Kohefiza area of Bhopal. Roshni, a native of Alirajpur district, had joined Gandhi Medical College (GMC) in October 2025.

She was discovered unconscious in the hostel bathroom by the guard after her roommates broke open the door when she failed to respond for a long time.

The police have recovered an acid bottle near her body, complicating the investigation. While the body has been sent to Hamidia Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, preliminary statements from her roommates point towards severe academic stress.

They reportedly told the police that Roshni had been struggling to cope with the medical syllabus and often cried about her inability to learn, indicating a potential suicide.
