US-Returned Techie Kills Dentist Mother & Navy Father Over Startup Funding
In a shocking incident that has rattled the Bengaluru community, Dr. Shyamala Bhat (55), a practicing dentist, and her husband Naveen Chandra Bhat (60), a retired Indian Navy Captain, were allegedly stabbed to death by their own son, Rohan Chandra Bhat (33). The brutal attack took place on the morning of Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at their residence in Adarsh Vista, Vignan Nagar.
According to police reports, Rohan, a software engineer who had returned from the US three years ago, had been pressuring his parents to fund his new tech startup. When they refused or expressed inability to meet his financial demands, a heated argument ensued.

In a fit of rage, Rohan allegedly attacked them with a kitchen knife around 7:30 AM. Neighbors, including a fellow doctor who filed the complaint, rushed the couple to Manipal Hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival.
The accused has been arrested by the HAL Police. Investigations revealed he had been living separately and suffering from anxiety issues, often visiting his parents only to demand money. The bodies have been shifted to Bowring Hospital for autopsy, which will be conducted once the couple’s daughter arrives from the United States.
