Jalandhar: Doctor Found Dead At Home; Family Alleges Abuse and Financial Fraud, Probe Underway

A government doctor posted in Kapurthala, Dr. Meenakshi Sood, was found dead at her residence in Jalandhar on the morning of June 10, 2026. The incident has triggered a police investigation after her family raised serious allegations against her husband, including claims of domestic abuse, unauthorised financial dealings, and an extramarital relationship.

Police have registered a case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint filed by Dr. Sood’s father. Investigators have stated that the exact cause and circumstances of death will be determined following post-mortem examination and forensic analysis.

Family Demands Arrest, Seeks Detailed Probe

According to the complaint, Dr. Sood’s family alleges that she had been subjected to sustained harassment and financial exploitation.
