Kanker Medical College: MBBS Student Dies in Road Accident on Way to Exam

The medical student community in Chhattisgarh is reeling from a devastating loss following a fatal road traffic accident. An MBBS student from Government Medical College, Kanker, tragically lost his life after his motorcycle was struck by a speeding vehicle while he was en route to his examination center.

The Fatal Collision

The heartbreaking incident occurred on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The student, along with a friend who was riding pillion, had left the Alberapara hostel and was heading towards the college campus to appear for their scheduled Forensic Science examination.

As they navigated a bypass road in the Nadanmara area, a speeding pickup vehicle approaching from the Jagdalpur side violently collided with their motorcycle. The student riding the bike sustained critical, life-threatening injuries in the crash, while his friend suffered minor injuries.

Tragic Passing and Safety Concerns

Fellow students immediately rushed both victims to the nearby Komaldeo Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, the critically injured student was urgently referred to a specialized facility in Raipur for advanced medical intervention. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, he tragically succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

His deeply saddened classmates, who accompanied his mortal remains to his native village, have raised serious alarms regarding infrastructure negligence. Students highlighted that the bypass road where the collision occurred is a notorious accident blackspot, entirely lacking basic safety measures such as speed breakers or CCTV cameras, which continuously puts the lives of commuting medicos at extreme risk
