RMC Scam Busted: Former Registrar Among 17 Arrested Over Fake FMG Registrations

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan Police has finally dropped the hammer on the massive fake medical registration scandal that has been plaguing the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC).

In a massive bust earlier this week, SOG ADG Vishal Bansal confirmed the arrest of 17 individuals, including the suspended former RMC Registrar, Dr. Rajesh Sharma.

The Fake Registration Racket

This wasn’t just a minor administrative lapse; it was a highly organized criminal syndicate. The SOG investigation revealed that the accused colluded to grant permanent medical registrations to candidates who had never actually cleared their exams. This included Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) who failed the mandatory FMGE screening test, and shockingly, even candidates who had only passed their 12th-grade exams.

98 Fake Doctors Identified

Investigators found that the syndicate bypassed the system by uploading doctored degrees, forged NOCs, and fake verification documents directly to the state medical council portals. So far, the SOG has identified at least 98 completely fake doctor registrations, meaning unqualified individuals were illegally permitted to treat patients and secure government hospital internships across the state.

Dr. Sharma had already been suspended late last year following a state health committee probe, but this string of 17 arrests officially exposes the deep, systemic corruption within the council. For the thousands of FMGs and local medicos who spend years studying to legitimately pass their exams, this crackdown is a massive, long-overdue vindication.
