Siddipet Medical College Intern Allegedly Dies by Suicide; Police probe underway

Dr. Lavanya, a 25-year-old Intern from the 2020 MBBS batch at Government Medical College (GMC/GGH) Siddipet, has died by suicide. According to reports, she attempted to end her life on Saturday (Jan 3) by injecting herself with 10-15 ml of paraquat – a toxic substance.

After she was found in a critical condition in her hostel/room, she was initially rushed to the casualty ward at GGH Siddipet. Due to the severity of the poisoning, she was referred to a private hospital and subsequently shifted to NIMS Hyderabad for advanced care. Despite intensive efforts, she succumbed to the toxicity late on Sunday night (Jan 4).

Her body has been shifted to Gandhi General Hospital for the postmortem examination. Police have registered a case, and further details will be known after a thorough investigation
