Strike Suspended: MP Junior Doctors Halt Protests Until March 16 After Govt Assurance

In a massive relief for thousands of patients across Madhya Pradesh, the Junior Doctors Association (MP JDA) has officially suspended its statewide strike and OPD boycott. All medical protests have been temporarily halted until next Monday, March 16.

The breakthrough came late Monday evening following crucial, back-to-back meetings between the MP JDA delegation, the Commissioner of Medical Education, and the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister.

According to an official press release issued by the MP JDA, the discussions were highly positive. The state administration has explicitly assured the junior doctors that a final decision regarding their core demands – specifically, the pending annual stipend increment and the immediate payment of delayed arrears – will be executed within the next 5 to 7 days.

Respecting the government’s official timeline, the joint MP JDA decided to step back from their agitation to ensure patient care does not suffer further. However, the medical fraternity remains on high alert. If the government fails to issue the official written orders for the stipend hike by the end of this week, the doctors are fully prepared to resume their statewide strike on March 16.

Routine OPD services, elective surgeries, and academic activities have resumed across all government medical colleges in the state as of Tuesday morning.
