Harassment Probe Launched Against Senior Professor at SMS Medical College Jaipur

A major administrative probe is currently underway at Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Medical College in Jaipur following serious allegations of misconduct and harassment filed by a female faculty member against a senior professor in her department.

The complaint, which was officially lodged nearly a month ago, has now escalated, triggering parallel investigations at both the institutional and state government levels.

• Internal College Inquiry: Following the formal complaint, the college Principal constituted a high-level internal committee to examine the allegations. The panel included two Additional Principals, the Student Welfare Dean, and both current and former Heads of the Department. After a thorough review, this committee compiled its findings and submitted a final report to the Principal earlier this week.

• State Medical Department Steps In: The gravity of the allegations has also drawn the attention of the Rajasthan State Medical Department. Taking immediate cognizance, Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore has formed a separate two-member investigative team and demanded a detailed, independent report on the matter.

While the official findings of both committees are currently being kept under wraps, the dual-level scrutiny highlights a zero-tolerance approach to workplace harassment allegations within state medical institutions.
