MBBS Admission Scam: FIR Filed in Lucknow for Duping Bengal Man of ₹5 Lakh; 3 Booked
The anxiety and desperation surrounding medical admissions in India have once again been ruthlessly exploited by fraudsters. In a shocking case of interstate cheating, the Sarojininagar Police in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against three individuals associated with a fraudulent educational consultancy. The trio allegedly swindled ₹5 lakh from a West Bengal resident under the entirely false pretext of securing a guaranteed MBBS seat for his daughter.
The Lucknow Trap
As reported by The medical dialogues—According to the official police complaint, the victim, a resident of the East Medinipur district in West Bengal, stated that his daughter was actively preparing for the highly competitive NEET UG 2025 examination. During this intense and stressful preparation phase, the family was abruptly contacted by a woman claiming to represent a highly reputable admission consultancy operating out of Transport Nagar in Lucknow.
The caller confidently assured the father that their agency possessed a proven, multi-year track record of helping students bypass standard cutoffs to secure admissions into premium MBBS and MD courses across the country. Manipulated by the promise of a secure medical future for his daughter, the desperate father traveled hundreds of kilometers from Bengal to visit the consultancy’s office in Uttar Pradesh.

The ₹5 Lakh Extortion
Upon arriving at the Transport Nagar office, the victim was introduced to another associate who detailed a highly convincing, albeit entirely fabricated, backdoor admission process. The agents assured the family that a medical seat in a recognized college was well within reach, but they strictly demanded an immediate advance payment to clear what they termed “registration and admission formalities.”
Trusting the professional facade of the office setup, the father agreed to their terms. According to the financial records submitted to the police, the complainant transferred a total of ₹5 lakh directly into the bank accounts of the accused. These massive transactions were carried out in installments through PhonePe and RTGS transfers across different dates.
The scam rapidly unraveled when the consultancy agents began demanding even more money. They falsely claimed that while the initial registration was complete, further “processing funds” were urgently required to finalize the seat allotment.

The Realization and Disappearance
Growing highly suspicious of the endless, undocumented financial demands, the father launched his own independent inquiries. He quickly realized he had walked into a massive, orchestrated trap and that no legitimate admission process was actually taking place. When the devastated victim confronted the agents and demanded a full refund of his ₹5 lakh, the accused promptly switched off their mobile phones, abandoned their communications, and became completely unreachable.
Police Action and Verified Statements
Left with no other financial or legal recourse, the victim approached law enforcement in Lucknow to report the massive fraud. Confirming the disturbing development, Sarojininagar Inspector Rajdev Prajapati issued a verified statement regarding the active investigation into the educational consultancy.
“An FIR has been registered based on the complaint filed by the resident of West Bengal. The police have started a thorough investigation and are actively collecting evidence in the case,” Inspector Prajapati stated to the press.
Authorities have formed dedicated teams to track down the absconding individuals, and efforts are underway to investigate the Transport Nagar office where the fraudulent meetings took place. The police are heavily scrutinizing digital transaction footprints and call records to determine if this consultancy is part of a larger interstate syndicate that has duped other vulnerable medical aspirants using the exact same modus operandi.

It is utterly sickening how these fake educational consultancies continue to operate in broad daylight, preying exclusively on the extreme anxiety of medical aspirants and their parents. The pressure to secure an MBBS seat in this country is so psychologically overwhelming that middle-class families are willing to blindly transfer their hard-earned life savings to complete strangers. While the UP police must act swiftly to dismantle this specific syndicate, this incident serves as a glaring, tragic warning to all NEET aspirants. There is no backdoor entry into Indian medical colleges. Any consultancy promising a “guaranteed” clinical seat for cash is selling you a devastating, expensive lie.
